Kaleidoscope 17 Half Time report
Greeting from San Antonio, TX!
We are approximately at the middle of this year’s Kscope. Again, we are having an amazing vintage: like good wine, additional years add maturity and character to the conference.
What can I say about this year:
On-Premise is not completely dead: the current Oracle EPM version (11.1.2.4) will receive additional PSEs to correct issues and add new functionalities. The next major release is 11.2 that will be completely rebuilt under the cover, it is expected to hit the (virtual) shelves early 2019. There is a guaranteed support until 2030.
OAC is already an amazing suite of tools: a completely new version of Essbase, more powerful and easier to use and a great vizualization tool: Data Visualization (with a new version Data Visualization V3 released today), this is the most exciting product in the EPM and BI space and I can’t wait to use it in real life.
On the SmartView side, Office 365 is going to be supported very soon, what does it mean? It means that you will be able to use SmartView on a Mac or an iPad. The interface is slightly redesigned as well.
What strikes me the most, is how people are reacting to OneStream getting some steam in the EPM space. Lots of conversations with fellow consultants, I even attended an excellent session that compared Oracle EPM, Anaplan, and OneStream. The market is heating up!
On my end, I did a nice presentation on Calc Manager with Ron Moore, we had a good attendance and good questions during the session, you can download the slides from this link. As my youngest fellow say, HMU if you have any question or comment.
Stay cool!
