EPBCS Tricks Part 1
I am enjoying my first project with Oracle EPBCS. It will be the opportunity to share what I am learning with this new version of Planning.
Back to Classic
The past few years, I have been very unlucky: I’ve had to deal with EPMA on all my projects so one of the best thing with Cloud projects is that I don’t have to deal with this tool anymore. That said, there are a few things I probably forgot about Classic, one of these being: ‘Edit Dimension Properties’ Vs ‘Edit Member Properties’.
When you click on the pencil on the top, you will Edit the dimension header:
When you click on the lower pencil, you will Edit the member you’ve selected:
A study has recently proven that 99.995% of the time, users want to use the second option.
Careful with Data Storage(s) and Aggregation(s)
I have been very confused with this one: when you look at a file export of a dimension, you will notice that you have a ‘General’ DataStorage column and ‘DataStorage’ overrides for each Plan Type. This is a feature a lot of us have been waiting for (including me) but you need to be careful when you initialize or modify your application because only the ‘General’ DataStorage property is visible in the Web interface.
In this screenshot, I kept only the DataStorage columns visible. Make sure you have what you want, especially after you update one of these properties.
The same applies to Aggregation but this one appears on the Web interface so it is less tricky:
I hope you will find it useful and stay tuned for more!
